MadeBookable is a MadeDigital product. It began as a response to a pattern we kept meeting: booking-led businesses running on a combination of spreadsheets, email, paper diaries and software that was never designed for how they operate. Rather than rebuilding similar foundations from scratch for each client, we built a configurable platform.
The challenge
Booking-led businesses share a common set of problems — availability, allocation, customers, payments, reporting — but almost none of them share the same terminology or the same rules.
Off-the-shelf booking software tends to solve this by imposing one model on everyone. Businesses then adapt around it: a spreadsheet for the part it cannot handle, a separate system for payments, and a member of staff who holds the real picture in their head.
Building a bespoke system for every client would solve the fit problem but repeat the same groundwork each time, which is slow and expensive for everyone involved.
The approach
We separated the parts that genuinely differ between businesses from the parts that only appear to. Availability rules, terminology, what a "booking" contains and how things are allocated genuinely differ. Customer records, payment tracking, reporting and permissions largely do not.
The platform holds the common foundations, and configuration handles the differences — including the language shown on screen, so staff see the terms they already use rather than generic labels.
Each client's data is kept separately, and each deployment is configured around that client's operation rather than being a shared generic instance.
The solution
A configurable booking and operational management platform covering bookings, customers, products and inventory, payments, allocations, reporting, staff access and branded customer-facing portals.
Configuration decides the terminology, the booking model, the availability and allocation rules, the workflows and the reports — so the same platform can suit very different types of booking-led business.
MadeDigital configures, deploys and supports it, and continues developing it as client requirements reveal new needs.

Technical considerations
- Multi-tenant architecture with each client's data held separately rather than pooled.
- Configuration-driven behaviour, so a new sector does not require a new codebase.
- Designed to integrate with existing systems — payment providers, accounting software and websites — rather than assuming it will be the only system in use.
Outcome
- MadeDigital can now deliver a booking and operational platform configured around a client's business without rebuilding the foundations each time.
- Clients keep their own terminology and workflows instead of adapting to generic labels imposed by off-the-shelf software.
- Development continues, with new capability added as real client requirements emerge.
Measured figures are only published once a client has confirmed them.
